AND WHY PREVENTATIVE HEALTH MATTERS MORE THAN EVER

How the habits you build now shape your health, energy, and future wellbeing.

“This week didn’t quite go to plan."

This week didn’t quite go to plan. I was meant to be interviewed on the radio, but a technical issue meant it didn’t happen. Strangely, that unexpected space gave me time to deal with two personal situations, one of which was my dad needing to go into hospital. Thankfully, he’s okay.

But it was a reminder of something we often don’t think about until we’re faced with it:

NONE OF US WANT TO BE IN HOSPITAL
We want to feel well, strong, and at home in our bodies.

And it brought me back to something I care deeply about:

PREVENTATIVE HEALTH
Looking after ourselves before things become problems.

MENOPAUSE IS MORE THAN SYMPTOMS
Menopause is often spoken about as something to “get through.”

But the reality is:

It’s a major biological transition that affects your whole body. Including:

  • brain health
  • bone density
  • heart health
  • metabolism
  • mood and emotional wellbeing
This isn’t just about symptoms, it’s about long-term health.

A SHIFT IN UNDERSTANDING
There’s now a growing understanding that menopause is closely linked to:

  • cardiovascular health
  • cognitive health and dementia risk
  • osteoporosis and bone health
  • metabolic function
And importantly:

Early support matters.

We’re moving away from:
“Wait until it gets bad.”

Towards:
“Understand it early and support the body properly.”
WHY PERSONALISED SUPPORT MATTERS
No two women experience menopause in the same way.

That’s why more personalised, test-based approaches are becoming so important. Looking at things like inflammation, gut health, blood sugar balance, and nutritional status allows support to be tailored to the individual rather than guessing

“I’LL DEAL WITH IT LATER” OFTEN BACKFIRES
One of the most common patterns I see is women putting themselves last.

  • pushing through.
  • ignoring symptoms.
  • hoping things will settle on their own.
But during menopause, the body becomes less forgiving of neglect.

  • recovery slows,
  • inflammation rises more easily.

  • hormonal resilience decreases.
The habits you build now matter more than ever.

START SMALL, STAY CONSISTENT
Preventative health doesn’t need to be overwhelming.

In fact, small consistent habits are often the most powerful.

Start with one daily non-negotiable:

  • eat a balanced meal instead of skipping
  • get outside for 10 minutes
  • go to bed earlier
  • stay consistent with supplements
  • drink more water
You don’t need to do everything.

Just start somewhere.

THIS IS ABOUT YOUR FUTURE HEALTH
Menopause is not just about how you feel today.

It influences:

  • how you age
  • your energy levels
  • brain function
  • long-term resilience
The support you give your body now can shape the next 10, 20, even 30 years.

And most importantly:

You do not need to wait until things get worse before getting support.
