WHY SYMPTOMS OFTEN START EARLIER THAN YOU THINK
This week has been what I’d call “in the weeds” the kind of work that isn’t always visible, but is essential.
Behind the scenes, I’ve been busy building the foundations for Healthy Habitz Hub creating a space centred around:
COMMUNITY
+ SUPPORT
+ REAL CONNECTION
Alongside that, it’s been a powerful week in clinic with Menopause MOTs, Menopause Check-Ins, and more women joining The Menopause Vitality Reset to better understand their bodies and create lasting change.
There’s also been time for learning, collaboration, and celebrating my son’s 21st birthday, which felt really special.
And through all of it, one thing has become very clear:
“Women don’t need more noise - they need clarity.”

PERIMENOPAUSE OFTEN STARTS EARLIER THAN MANY WOMEN REALISE
Perimenopause can begin in the mid to late 30s.
Perimenopause can begin in the mid to late 30s.
For years, menopause was associated mainly with irregular periods and women in their late 40s or 50s.
But we now understand that symptoms can begin years before cycles noticeably change.
EARLY SIGNS OF PERIMENOPAUSE
Many women experience symptoms such as:
Many women experience symptoms such as:
- anxiety
- sleep disruption
- brain fog
- low mood
- fatigue
- reduced stress tolerance
- subtle cycle changes
Because periods may still be regular, these symptoms are often dismissed or misunderstood.
WHY SO MANY WOMEN MISS IT
This is something I see often.
A woman feels “off” more overwhelmed, exhausted, or unlike herself but because she’s still functioning, working, and managing life, she tells herself:
“It’s fine… for now.”
But in early perimenopause, hormones begin fluctuating long before they decline.
This can lead to:
- unpredictable oestrogen changes
- reduced progesterone
- increased nervous system sensitivity
- poorer sleep
- lower stress resilience
In simple terms:
THE BODY WHISPERS BEFORE IT SHOUTS.
TIP OF THE WEEK: DON’T WAIT FOR IT TO GET WORSE
If you’ve been feeling “not quite yourself,” don’t ignore it simply because you’re still coping.
Start noticing patterns:
- sleep changes
- mood shifts
- energy dips
- cycle variations
- stress tolerance
TRACK THEM + OBSERVE THEM + JOIN THE DOTS
Early awareness allows:
✔ earlier support
✔ better symptom management
✔ less escalation over time
You don’t have to wait until you’re struggling.
THE POWER OF EARLY SUPPORT
One of the biggest shifts happening in menopause care is moving from:
“WAIT UNTIL IT GETS BAD, THEN TREAT IT” TO “UNDERSTAND IT EARLY AND SUPPORT IT PROPERLY.”
Small, early interventions can help:
- stabilise symptoms
- support hormones
- improve energy
- reduce overwhelm
- protect long-term health
HOW I SUPPORT WOMEN
If you’re starting to feel “not quite yourself,” this is the perfect time to understand what’s happening in your body.
You can begin with:
Real change starts when you begin listening to your body earlier.
